Limited edition book, There are not many
left.
The book is titled: 1851-(150 Jahre)-2001 Lenzkircher Uhren
Aus der Geschichte einer bemerkenswerten Uhrmacherzeit
There was a big Clock Exhibition
commemorating the 150 year anniversary of the Lenzkirch Clock factory a
month before my last trip to the little town of Lenzkirch Germany. I
discovered I had missed the exhibit, but I did find a shop that had some
of the books that were published about this great show.
Naturally, since this is a book I've never seen here in the USA, (it was
published 08/2001), I bought all the copies he had. This is a great
book and a tremendous resource for the Lenzkirch collector or lover and
now you don't have to try to find one in Germany.
This new, (still shrink wrapped) 190
page, hard-cover book comes out of that exhibition and describes in
detail many of those clocks. There are
over 250 color (and dozens of b/w) photos of all types of Lenzkirch
Clocks, of all periods, of all styles, most of the pictures accompanied by
descriptions, anecdotes, serial numbers, and dates (and detailed closeups).
Some clocks are displayed full page, some less, there's also many
examples of movements and how they look. There's even a dating
chart based on serial numbers and a history of the Lenzkirch company and
it's products.
One possible downside (at least to
Americans), is that the book is entirely in the German
language. For those of you that speak German, you'll be all set. The
rest of us, will have to look at the pictures and guess what is really
being said. Fortunately, with the wonderful pictures, the
descriptions are such that I have been able to get enough information to
satisfy my curiosity.
Regarding the pictures to the left, I have
a older scanner, so my pictures on the left are not nearly as good
as those in the book, they are just representative of them. I will
make this promise, if you're not happy with the book after looking through
it, just return it for a full refund of the purchase price.
One other note: While I was in
Lenzkirch, I was able to visit the local collector who owned over half the
clocks in this exhibition, and he graciously allowed me to take over 150
(3.1mp) digital photos of most of his collection. I will be
compiling these onto a cd collection and offering it on ebay at a later
date, so watch this space (if you're interested)!!
The book is titled: 1851-(150)-2001
Jahre Lenzkircher Uhren Aus der Geschichte einer bemerkenswerten

If I've violated any copyrights by
scanning the photos on the left I apologize, I am only doing it to
facilitate the sale of these books.
